The Photo App for the Serious Phone Photographer
Dec 22nd
Phones are no longer crappy cameras that give us “good enough” photos to share online, but now actually take photos that are good enough to print! Which is perfect because when we don’t have our camera on us, we always have our phones. Camera+ is a new app that maximizes the iPhone‘s capability to take photos. With easy to use options for exposure, clarity, multiple shooting modes, zoom, and even a photo flashlight! There’s lots of photo apps out there, but this one takes it further by providing you with every shoot option needed for the phone photographer. You can also set-up your lightbox for easy browsing, get photo info such as ISO, focal length, shutter speed, etc., and instantaneously share pics on flickr, facebook, and twitter. If you like photography and rock an iPhone, this is a no brainer app for only $.99 (Limited time only)!!

What the Tech? Is this the Technology behind the Back to the Future Hover Board?
Oct 18th
No this isn’t a urinal cake. This is just mind blowing.
It’s called Quantum Trapping. And if you ask me, it is really freaking cool! What this technology will be used for has not been stated, but I sure do hope this means we’ll all have Hover Boards, like in Back to the Future Part 3, in 2015.
What The Tech?! Series (What is it?) What is, "What the Tech?!" The "What the Tech?!" Series covers technologies that makes you take a second look while uncontrollably tilting your head to the side. Similar to what a K-9 does when seeing something it doesn't quite understand. So when we spot technology that just makes us go wonder, "What the heck is that?", well that is something that deservers to be covered here.

Thanks Steve – You Were One of The Crazy Ones
Oct 5th
“Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits.
The rebels.
The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They invent. They imagine. They heal.
They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
- Steve Jobs, (former) Apple C.E.O.
You were one of the crazy ones Steve. Thanks.
Power-hungry TV’s have gone on a massive Energy Diet, consuming 63% less
Feb 3rd
The CEA just release a study that compares TV’s from 2003 to TV’s produced in 2010 and the results are very impressive. LCD TV’s have reduced their powered-on energy consumption an average of 63%. Even more impressive is the amount of energy they’ve save when they are not in use. As I’m sure you are all aware electronic devices consume power even when powered off. Simply being plugged in causes them to consume power. So how much has been saved when powered off?
Today’s LCD TV’s consume 87% less power than those produced in 2003. It now takes less energy to power your TV than it does to power that lamp with the 100W bulb next to your couch. Now that’s impressive. The largest power reductions were made with LCDs, but Plasma made a great showing as well.

VOD: Darth Vader V-Dub Superbowl Commercial (VW Jetta)
Feb 2nd
How a young Darth Vader learned to control the force, or maybe it’s a VW Jetta commercial for this Sunday’s Super Bowl XVL. May the force be with you young padawan.
This commercial makes me wish remote engine start existed when I was a kid.
UPDATE: It’s official, this is arguably the best commercial of the Super Bowl.
VOD: Bud Light says, “3D is inappropriate.”
Jan 31st
Here’s the real reason why 3DTV is not taking off in the home, BudLight has done a ton of market research and found a really big flaw. Thus they don’t support the medium and now the Super Bowl won’t be in 3D as a result.
What the tech?! A cooling unit? Heat plate? Nope, it’s the Turnstyle
Jan 21st
Feast your eyes on the Turnstyle. For those of you born after 1985, it plays something called Vinyl Records, essentially big black CD’s (Look it up on Wikipedia or something). For those of you born prior to 1985, you know what I’m talking about here.
Yes, this is in fact a turntable, a record player, a phonograph. It’s a minimalist one at that. This very well designed turntable stripped everything away but the bare essentials. It contains:
- The motor to spin the record.
- The needle to read the music imprinted on the record.
- The speaker to output the music.
- And the controls to turn it on/off, etc.
This beautifully designed piece was created by R.D. Silva.
My hat is off to you Silva. Very well done.

Starbucks Big Gulp (Trenta), now with more RLS!
Jan 18th
Starbucks, the McDonald’s of Coffee (not to be confused with McCafe), is taking a page out of the 7-Eleven playbook and introducing a new extra-large drink size; the trenta. Trenta, for those of you that don’t speak italian, literally translates to Big Gulp. Okay so that might not be true, but the new Trenta sized cup is the same size as the 7-Eleven Big Gulp.
Here are 3 things you can expect from drinking the new “Trenta” sized coffees from Startbucks: More >
